Learning a DSLR

We will be covering every topic with regards to your camera. There certainly is a lot to cover. Our goal is to get you out of "Auto" and into the P S A M modes.

One of the biggest tips I can give you is to go and read your manual. Hopefully you've tried. I realize it can be confusing. After we cover the things we have lined up, you will know enough to go back and read your manual again, and certainly get more out of it. When you read your manual, have your camera in front of you. Don't be afraid to mess about with the camera's settings, and generally explore. We will also be covering a way to reset it back to default, so that you can always get a fresh slate.

P - Programmed Auto. (This is just like Auto, but works more effectively, and lets you do more things) S - Shutter priority. (This puts the camera's first job as setting a shutter speed you have selected) A - Aperture priority. (This sets the amount of light allowed to get into the camera) M - Manual (This allows you to independently choose both the S and the A. You have total control of what the camera will do. We won't be using this one for a little bit)
Take your camera out of Auto and put it to P. I promise it wont hurt.

Snap off a picture. I don't care if its of your foot, or the wall. Now take another one. Feels good doesn't it? Good news is... It didn't cost you anything.
